Senior Accountant – Farnborough

Our client in Farnborough seeks an ACCA-qualified accountant to join their firm as their co-pilot, where there is an opportunity to eventually become a co-owner. You’ll work with a fun, experienced team focused on helping small business and sole trader clients reach their full potential.

The Role

You will work with a clientele that is primarily sole traders and small business limited companies. Clients want to spend time working on and growing their business, not in it — and that’s where you come in.

• Assist with creating new business targets for gaining new clients
• Review accounts prepared by junior staff and the offshore team
• Create and manage marketing plans and business development strategies
• Act as deputy when the Director is away
• Build excellent client relationships
• Regularly review the client database
• Work with the team to create checklists to find opportunities for cross-selling or up-selling
• Understand and present data showing the root causes for high or low profitability of clients
• Produce monthly/annual statistics
• Analyse revenue vs forecast data
• Profit vs budget
• Manage enquiries to new business conversion
• Manage and develop the team, ensuring maximum effectiveness of staff
• Attend and show productivity over quarterly performance reviews with the Director
• Attend weekly meetings

Is this you?

As well as having at least 8 years of practice experience with chartered accountancy, the ideal candidate will hold a strong level of business development acumen, be self-driven and aspire to create success for the business.

• ACCA-qualified or equivalent
• Experience with both sole trader and limited company accounting
• Ability to interpret and analyse financial statements and periodicals
• Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Strong technical familiarity with Xero, Dext and/or other accounting softwares
• Available for an immediate start
• Disciplined, trustworthy and loyal
• Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel and Word
• Able to communicate effectively with all clients
• A good manager to team members
• A strong leader to help run and develop each staff member
• Self-driven, ambitious and flexible
• Good at problem-solving
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Legally authorised to work in the UK and local to Farnborough
