Practice Manager – South London (Hybrid)

Are you ready to step away from accounts production? Is it time to take your accountancy career to the next level? We are actively seeking a Practice Manager to join the team at a well-regarded and friendly South London accounting practice in East Sheen.

This is an amazing progression opportunity for a keen professional to move into a leadership role. In this role, you’ll take over from the retiring partner, with whom there will be a dedicated 1:1 handover period of 6-12 months.

About the Practice

This South London practice is part of a group of seven accounting firms in the UK, with back office support from India. The practice has operated since 2009 and currently has a team of five local staff and five staff members in India. The group’s international presence continues to grow, including the United Arab Emirates, amongst other locations.

About the Role

As Practice Manager, you will be partially client-facing, but the main purpose of your role is running the business of the practice. The client portfolio is primarily from the creative industry, and the firm is keen to always stay ahead when it comes to technology and innovation.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Mentoring the existing client managers
  • Sign out financial statements
  • Ensure the profitability of the business is maintained.Ultimate responsibility for tasks lies with this role
  • PROJECT – Preparing a plan and enacting it for delayed but upcoming MTD for ITSA
  • Oversee the client anti-money laundering process.Review work of the client managers
  • Monthly management accounts preparation for the practice.Annual statutory accounts preparation for the practice
  • Quarterly VAT returns for the practice
  • Monthly payroll and pension submission for the practice
  • Fortnightly updates with the senior management team (executive committee)
  • Attending quarterly Senior Group meeting at the London head offices collaborate for the future of the Group
  • Making payments to suppliers
  • Liaising with the internal credit controller on recovery of outstanding debts.Liaising with the dedicated India team, and providing feedback.
  • Annual & salary reviews of the team
  • Approving holiday and recording sickness for the team, and liaising with HR
  • Arrange the regular CPD training for the team
  • Work with the internal marketing team on reviewing the client newsletters
  • Liaise with suppliers
  • Adhoc sales billing and WIP reports
  • Liaising with internal IT firm on any IT issues that arise

Is this you?

You are either ACA or ACCA qualified with at least four years of post-qualification experience in a practice environment*. You are passionate about customer service and people development, and you love software and technology.

  • ACCA or ACA qualification is ideal, but QBE candidates will be considered
  • 4-5+ years of proven, ideally client-facing, post-qualification experience in a practice environment
  • Strong working knowledge of the following software is helpful but not essential: Xero, Dext, Syft Analytics, Inform Direct, Senta
  • You find joy in software and technology
  • Positive, personable and responsive
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience supervising, managing and developing team members
  • Proactive with strategic project management and troubleshooting skills

*Please note that a practice certificate is not required for this position.

Other important criteria:

  • You are a resident of and legally authorised to work in the United Kingdom without the need of visa sponsorship
