Part-Time Management Accountant – Edinburgh (Hybrid/Remote)

We have an exciting and rare opportunity for a talented part-time Management Accountant to join a growing and innovative Edinburgh practice that is passionate about creating clarity and confidence for charity and not-for-profit clients in Scotland and the rest of Britain. This role is ideal for someone looking for flexibility and purposeful work, perhaps coming back into the workforce after a career break. 

The Company & Role

This role involves working alongside the Director of an Edinburgh accountancy firm supporting a diverse range of charity clients to enhance their financial reporting. Our client is passionate about giving charities and other not-for-profit organisations the ability to deliver their cause with confidence and clarity. They take care of the clients’ finances so they can focus on their cause. Duties will include:

  • Working with client teams to get a detailed understanding of how the numbers flow into the accounts
  • Performing reviews of budget vs actual
  • Completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Posting of month-end journals (prepayments, accruals etc)
  • Producing monthly management accounts with commentary and additional analysis where required
  • Being dynamic with the reports and responding to client requests for additional commentary and analysis
  • Building Excel models to analyse data where required
  • Preparation of board reports from the management accounts information
  • Use of the practice management system (Pixie) to ensure work is managed to deadlines
  • Getting stuck in with any other areas of the business, as required

Is this you?

  • Extensive experience introducing accurate, excellent management accounts and financial modelling in Excel 
  • Accountancy qualification (or QBE), with proven experience working in a practice environment 
  • Amazing analytical skills and the ability to work independently and proactively

  • Located in Edinburgh or in the United Kingdom, with right to work*
