Client Manager (Qualified Accountant) – Reading

We are actively recruiting for a Client Manager (Qualified Accountant) to join the team of an award-winning accountancy practice in Reading. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to manage a portfolio of wide-ranging clients and take the next big step in their career.
About the opportunity
Our client is an award-winning accountancy firm with a great office setting in Reading. They provide bespoke accountancy services to clients across sectors. You’ll be part of an energetic, collaborative environment and a key member of the client management team.
- Manage your own portfolio of clients
- Build great and long-lasting team and customer relationships
- Assist and advise clients on varied day-to-day tax and financial matters, as well as supervising the year end accounts and tax completion for business customers, routine VAT compliance, etc
- Statutory accounts (FRS 102 and 105)
- Manage production and workflow for your team to ensure deliverables are met
- Undertake client meetings either in person or remotely, and be instrumental in signing up new clients for the practice
- Carry out reviews on any prepared accounts and tax returns
- Preparation of annual accounts as well as company and personal tax returns
- Provide advice and guidance to clients and junior staff when required
- Supervise bookkeeping, prepare and review VAT returns
- Other duties as needed
This is a hands-on role, delivering accounts/tax and all-round services to a varied portfolio of clients.
What you bring to the table
Your communication skills are top-notch with the ability to make clients and colleagues alike feel at ease. Delivering outstanding client service is second nature to you and you know technology is a key component to adding value to clients and improve efficiency. You are a doer who can think outside the box and you know that one solution isn’t necessarily the only one for a problem.

- ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified
- 3-4 years of proven accounting and client management experience in an accounting practice environment
- Strong statutory accounts experience (FRS 102 and/or 105)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service and organisation skills
- Confident, motivated self-starter with the ability to manage your time effectively and efficiently to meet deadlines
- Tech-savvy with the ability to think outside the box
- Must be based in the Reading are and not require visa sponsorship
