Accounts Assistant – Central London (Hybrid)

We are actively recruiting an accounting trainee to join an established and friendly firm in Central London as Accounts Assistant.

Accounts Assistant Role & Responsibilities: 

  • Bookkeeping
  • Bank and other reconciliations
  • Prepare VAT returns
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly management accounts
  • Assist with statutory accounts preparation
  • Assist with corporation tax and personal tax returns
  • Some office administration
  • Be knowledgeable about the different services of the firm and when clients may need these services
  • Use online social networking sites such as LinkedIn to build up a professional profile, both personally and on behalf of the firm
  • Deliver the client service level agreements with efficiency and friendly demeanour  
  • Work with clients to gain a high client satisfaction score and minimise client churn
  • Deliver a high technical standard so there are no mistakes or client complaints about the quality of work 
  • Adhere to the firm’s client care policy
  • Develop and manage turnaround time to an agreed target
  • Work with line manager to agree on individual productivity targets
  • Keep up-to-date with technical updates, changes in accounting and tax regulations, the current (and proposed future state) of cloud accounting platforms, financial software, cloud-based financial and business apps
  • Take ownership of your development and personal workload (you will be well-supported)
  • Contribute to the growth of the firm

This role is based at the client’s Central London office and hybrid working is available.

What you’ll bring to the table

  • Good understanding of UK GAAP accountancy and bookkeeping
  • Knowledge of accounts software like Xero and TaxCalc
  • Ideally, 1-2 years of experience with bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, reporting, reconciliation and invoice payments 
  • Knowledge and experience of management accounts or the willingness to learn
  • Strong working proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office software
  • Accurate and amazing attention to detail
  • Reliable and effective workload management
  • Confident communicator with good interpersonal skills to maintain relationships with colleagues and clients
  • A resourceful, can-do attitude to problem-solving
  • Must be based and have the right to work in the United Kingdom
