Accounts Assistant – Calcot, Reading

Our client in Reading is recruiting for a fantastic Accounts Assistant to join their growing finance team. The successful candidate will work closely with management to keep the financial wheel running smoothly.
The role
This role is based in-office in Calcot, Reading. Key responsibilities and tasks include:
- Day-to-day posting of supplier invoices
- Responding to supplier queries
- Reconciliation of the purchase ledger
- Supplier payment runs (UK & International)
- Posting and allocating payments to the purchase ledger
- End of month / year end reporting
- Bank reconciliation and cash forecasts
- Liaise with the company payroll provider and auto enrolment pension contributions
- Post receipts and payments to Cashbook
- Credit control and assisting the sales office team with accounts queries
- Petty cash management
- Dealing with company car insurance
- Processing employee expenses
- VAT/HMRC tax returns and statutory reporting
- Monitoring and actioning Accounts email inbox
What you’ll bring to the table
- Good understanding of UK GAAP accountancy and bookkeeping, including knowledge of accounts software
- Ideally, 1-2 years of experience with bookkeeping, payroll, VAT, reporting, reconciliation and invoice payments in industry
- Strong working proficiency of Microsoft Excel and other Office softwares
- Accurate and amazing attention to detail
- Reliable and effective workload management
- Confident communicator with good interpersonal skills to maintain relationships with colleagues, clients and suppliers
- A resourceful, can-do attitude to problem solving
- Must have legal authorisation to work in the United Kingdom
